A tablet-woven cotton ribbon or band from Burma, used to bind Buddhist manuscripts when donated to a temple. Red, white, and yellow, c. 1870s-1890s. Excellent condition, initial loop cut off. The woven-in text expresses the donors' wish to attain nirvana. Length: 160 inches
