All-over embroidery of floss silk on a fine silk ground,
c. mid-19th Century or earlier.
An outstanding early example, with thousands of small flowers covering the entire body, and large flowers on the ends.
Stunning vibrant colors and virtually no losses. Hand-sewn center seam.
Condition is near-excellent, with minor losses at the corners; otherwise no holes or stains.
(These shawls are usually on a cotton ground with no center seam; this is a particularly old and fine one.)
